Announcement: UK Tour for Dear Camilla with Violinist Patrick Galvin

Australian pianist Jennifer Hou will tour the UK this July with American violinist Patrick Galvin, performing their deeply personal new release, Dear Camilla.

Released in August 2025 on Navona Records, Dear Camilla honours the life and influence of Galvin’s former teacher, the legendary violinist Camilla Wicks. More than a recital, the program weaves music with spoken storytelling, drawing on letters, memory and mentorship to create an intimate concert experience that is both deeply personal and universally moving.

Jennifer and Patrick first developed the project during their Master’s degrees at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where the idea grew from Patrick’s tribute to Camilla Wicks into a full album and touring program. Jennifer has described being drawn to the project’s vulnerability and accessibility, with the spoken elements helping bring audiences closer to the music.

The album has already received thoughtful critical praise, with Textura describing the performances as marked by “sensitivity, intimacy, and a shared musical vision.” The review highlights the duo’s emotional depth across works by Sibelius, Chopin/Sarasate, Chausson, Pärt and Amy Beach.

The UK performances will feature works by Sibelius, Chopin, Chausson, Pärt, Greenhill, Higdon, Beach and a newly commissioned work by Australian-Chinese composer Jolin Jiang, created especially for the tour.
