Fine Music Article: In Conversation with Pianist Jennifer Hou

Featured in Fine Music Magazine - September 2020

I’m so delighted to share that I was recently featured in Fine Music Magazine in an article titled “In Conversation with Jennifer Hou”, written by Mona Omar with photography by Jeffrey Cheah.

In the interview, I had the chance to reflect on my journey since 2017 — from completing my Honours in Music at the University of New South Wales to performing with the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra and studying abroad in London and the United States. I also spoke about my dual passion for music and law, and how those studies have shaped the way I approach my artistic practice.

We also discussed the importance of scholarships and competitions for young musicians. These opportunities have opened so many doors for me, and I hope to encourage others to pursue them as well. I also shared a little about my love for French Impressionist and Australian repertoire — music that continually inspires me to connect with both the beauty of nature and the uniqueness of the Australian soundscape.

Thank you to Fine Music for supporting emerging artists.
